Meet Dr. Desimone

Tonina Desimone, DVM

Dr. Tonina Desimone (fondly known as Dr. D) is a local girl who grew up in Fallbrook, spending her time raising livestock in 4-H and FFA. After high school, she attended Iowa State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and minored in International Agriculture. She then earned a Master’s of Science at Colorado State University before heading off to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in beautiful St. Kitts. While in vet school, Dr. D helped with many research projects allowing her to work with island donkeys and to study reef fish populations while scuba diving and snorkeling.

Since graduating in 2015, Dr. D has been practicing general medicine for dogs and cats. In 2018, Dr. D attended the Cura Core Academy for Medical Acupuncture and became certified in medical veterinary acupuncture. She believes that her patients will benefit most from a combination of both Eastern and Western treatment strategies.

Dr. D started The Visiting Vet early in 2022 with the goal of reducing stress for her patients and clients. When pets are in their home, she can get to know who they really are and provide personal and individualized care for each one of her patients. Being mobile also allows Dr. D to spend more time with clients to ensure exceptional and compassionate care.
